My name is Andreas Urscheler. Welcome to my website and thank you for your interest in my work.
More than ten years ago while snowshoeing in the Grisons area of the Swiss Alps, I came across some abandoned and dilapidated mountain sheds and huts, which had once been used by mountain farmers for storage and shelter. I was immediately struck by the weathered beauty of the logs’ end pieces. Each cross section is different, an individual in its own right. I call them Woodcuts and I turn them into high-resolution fine art photographs in limited edition.

This is how it all began when I came across this perfect beauty of a shed. I have revisited this location many times over the last few years to capture it in the best possible quality. Meanwhile, my quest to find more sheds and cabins to capture Woodcuts has to taken me to countless remote places in the Swiss Alps.
